Welcome to Mr. Daly's Class site
STUDENTS: Here it is - The 2021 - 2022 school year is continuing as we have started up during a very, very different school year. Heck, all of life is different right now with what the world is going through. At least we have started off the year together here in school.
Class of 2022 - your year is finally here! Congrats on making it to your final year of high school. I bet it went fast and please understand - this year will go even faster. Remember to work hard, stay positive and make it your best school year yet! There are many obstacles and brick walls in your path this year, but this will make you better. Look for adversities to teach you lessons to get better.
It's great to remember that any time is an awesome time to re-focus on a few things that we know we need to work harder on. Summer is indeed a big part of that time, but any time is a good time to do those things that will help you so much with school and life. But, just like every season - time moves on and it's great to be back at school to keep working on things to help get your life going in a positive direction. So spend some time every day, every week or so to take some time to see how things are going for you and your life & see if those things are helping you go after your dreams and goals or are they taking you farther away from them. I took some time this summer, to refocus on some things that I've been putting off for way to long. I'm looking forward to continuing to work on those goals - my 29th at Lake Shore and 33rd overall in education! (WOW - Time has flown by for sure)
I've been trying to "do my homework" like I told my seniors from 2015 during my commencement speech at graduation - that is, sit back for a moment and take a look at your life. Ask yourself, how are things going? Do I need to make any changes in what's going on with my life? There have been a lot of distractions for me as of late, something I need to work on very hard to get back on track with some things I want to do. I look forward to accomplishing some great things this school year, for both my students and myself too.
Where are you at, where are you going, things you want to fix and improve upon, actually thinking about what's going on in your life and if you like it or not?? You need to do "your homework" throughout the entire school year and summer. We all do! Get in the positive habit of "doing your homework" for the rest of this school year & all throughout life!
Check out my blog entries for some new thoughts that might be able to help you out right now. NEW UPDATES COMING EVERY WEEK (Extra Credit available- Details given in class!)
So, I hope you found a little time to relax, reflect and spend time with those that we care about, but also do some things that will get you ready for the next part of your life - whatever that might be. Any time is always a GREAT time to pick up a book and learn some new things as any time is perfect for that. Sometimes it just takes 15 minutes a day or so. So check out my book list below - lot's of great titles to read about and maybe start thinking differently. Thinking of starting an online book club soon?? I've been re-reading a FANTASTIC BOOK "The Magic of Thinking Big" ... and my new #1 favorite is "On Fire" by John O'Leary. Stay tuned for more... :-)
Lots of changes have happened and more are on the way here at Lake Shore. Like I try and always say: "It's all good!" and I'm FIRED UP for a great start to the new school year coming up.... but guess what... you and I both need to be the ones that not only believes that things are going well, but we have to do the work to make it so. :-)
There continues to be so many possibilities and opportunities for you during the school year and really all year round too. The key is how many are taking advantage of? All you have to do is to be open-minded and prepared for those that come your way. There is a lot to work to do and for me to get going with and I need to start putting some more things into action to keep going in a positive direction.
To all my students that I've worked with from not only this past year - but from the previous 28 years too, I sincerely hope that things are going well and that you keep in touch.
I will be using this Weebly site to share basic information with all my students and their parents during the school year along with it being a contact point too. I will continue to update things here over the summer - especially my blog.
Our main class website will be with Schoology - find it on the Lake Shore site - Lakeshoreschools.org - where you can find all our class assignments, projects, assessments, etc.
PARENTS- talk to your student now that the school year is about to get going. Please make sure you can access our Schoology site as parents have a login as well. (so I've been told)
If students miss any time in class - please check our class site to see what you have missed. Get in touch with me too. My Class Pages will be visible here throughout the school year. (not much on it as Schoology - it is our MAIN class site) My summer page will be on up until the start of school in the fall.
Start out by checking out my blog. You will find items there throughout the term for you to think about and leave me a few thoughts. I will continue to update this at least once a week if not more. (I have failed at this - I need to get the habit going again!) It will generally have Leadership & Success principles as a central theme that will hopefully help you think about things in your life and your future. My students know that there is some extra credit during the school year for leaving me their thoughts and ideas about the postings. Anyone else can join in too.
All students & parents should check the Student/Parent portal for their grades in class. The link can be found at http://www.lakeshoreschools.org/ During the school year I plan on updating grades at least every 1 to 2 days and on weekends. I will be continuing to update my blog and other items here on this site throughout the summer - so keep checking back often.
I will be trying to use this site more and more to help with communication and a few items to do as part of our class too. Any questions please let me know. I am available by email at [email protected] or by using the contact form below. I will be checking my email throughout the summer

Reading - Big Key to Success!
Looks like a great article to check out. I know I need to get more reading in this year. Good things can come from getting some reading in.
