Making changes along the way, fixing things, learning from mistakes, it ends up that we are a lot more a head than if we stayed put without getting started. We will find the things along the way that we need, if we just get going. As I sit here writing this, I have found it very liberating to understand the importance of this fact. Just getting moving on things I've been putting off has made me feel so much better about my life that it has freed me up in other areas too. That's one of the bi-products of this - taking action gets the ball moving in so many other parts of your life. Now the key is for me to just keep going and not quit.
I know that this thought has held me hostage many times during my lifetime. I've always waited on things to be just right or close to being right before I wold even start. Now that I'm a lot older, I have started to listen to those that have told me similar messages to this quote. Just start. Just get going with things you have to do. There is another saying that says - you don't have to get it right to get going, just get going.

Get Going, this is simple for us, but actually it is really hard. We often do things based on other's perspective and forget how to do on our own. It is needed for us to continue, not just do things depended on others, because others may be wrong. Just go and follow yourself!

You are so right Peter.. it is easy... on paper or in thought... but the reality is that it's really difficult. But I always remember the saying that is what makes it great... it's the "hard" that makes it worthwhile... if it was easy, not only would everyone be doing it - but it would diminish the value too. Great thoughts here.. thanks :-)

This quote is golden because there is no other place to start than the beginning- with what you have and where you are. Waiting around for the perfect situation will never be fruitful because a) it will never occur without you pursuing it and b) there really is no perfect situation. You have to use what you've got in the moment to further yourself. Don't wait. Time knows no holiday.

Wow.. I needed that... thanks Hannah for your thoughts.. amazing connections & great reminders for me. :-) There will never be a perfect moment to do something we know we have to do.. and yes.. time waits for no person. Like Tiger Woods said... "father time is undefeated"

In order to strive for greatness and want the best for yourself at the end of each day you must "Start from wherever you are and with whatever you've got." The quality of your life lies entirely up to you, if you want to be better or you want to achieve a particular goal, then start now. Don't put it off for tomorrow- for me in particular I stopped running for awhile when my schedule got busier, I constantly told myself I needed to start getting back into it, saying "I'll go tomorrow," but I would also put it off just because I knew it would be a challenge. Eventually I eased back in and now I look back and wish my mindset would've been 'starting from where I was with what I had.' I would've been better now than I am, although it's brought me a lesson that will make me better than I am now.

wonderful post Shelby - I'm so proud of you. I think everyone goes though this... "I'll do ..... tomorrow." Keep this up.. not only the running.. but the good stuff that you are thinking about. Does this mean you will try out for basketball too?? ;-)

This quote impressed me alot. When starting a dream, some people advance bravely and never give up. For another, they think that they have nothing at all so that they are afraid of it. If we find we own lots of treasure even though we are stand on the starting point, we will be filling of confidence.

thanks Jack.. yes.. fear plays a big part of holding us back in life - and yes, there is treasure out there that we can "find" which will help us gain confidence - which is so, so valuable! :-)

I think this quote is very important because if you make excuses for what you need you can never get started. There will always be something you could need or want to get started on something but you need to use what you have and get started!
